Our mission at Dancesport Kingdom is to enrich your life through Ballroom, New Vogue and Latin American dancing. Singles have discovered that life is so much more enjoyable when you are Ballroom dancing with us, and couples feel a whole new sparkle in their relationship. And our team is every one of our dancer's own personal cheer squad, acknowledging and rewarding them every Ballroom step of the way.
Our Ballroom Team
The teaching team at Dancesport Kingdom are Ballroom dance teacher professionals and each member is formally trained in Ballroom dance teaching. We are dedicated to our craft and in inspiring you to fall in love Ballroom dancing! Dancesport Kingdom boasts one of the most qualified, experienced and extraordinarily un-pretentious (for Ballroom teachers!) Ballroom teaching teams in the country. Every lesson is dedicated to YOUR experience. In our delightfully spacious and fully air-conditioned purpose built Ballroom in Lilydale, Melbourne, we promise to inspire you in every lesson, every teachable moment and in every interaction. We have been captivating Ballroom dancers in the Yarra Ranges and beyond since 2007 with 100's of students now dancing confidently and with joy at weddings, on cruises and at our weekly and seasonal events, in performances and in competitions both around the country and internationally .
Who are we?
Dancesport Kingdom was established in 2007.
Owner and Principal Monica Fincham was born to dance! She commenced dance at the age of four with Calisthenics, was awarded a Ballet and Jazz scholarship at seven, and was Junior Victorian Rhymthic Gymnastics Champion at 12! She is also a Grade 8 AMEB pianist.
She commenced Ballroom, New Vogue and Latin American dancing in her mid teens and commenced what was to become a 17 year competitive DanceSport career over the three competitve styles. During this time she was Amateur and Professional Victorian Champion, Crown Champion, South Pacific Champion, National Champion, Premiere Championships Champion, South Australian Open Champion, Queensland Open Champion and after becoming professional in 2006 made every National Championship final in Australia. She also travelled overseas to train and compete both in Asia and in the UK in Bournemouth and at Blackpool as an Amateur and Professional dancer.
After retiring from competition in 2013, Monica now dedicates her time to training her team of Ballroom dance teachers at Dancesport Kingdom, and ensuring that each student's Ballroom dance experience at the studio is exhilarating. She is also is an accredited Championship Adjudicator with DanceSport Australia in all three styles.
In 2015 Monica launched National Dancesport Examinations - Australia's first fully choreographed medal award system for Dancesport Kingdom students, an enormously successful learning system which assists Ballroom students in their quest to become accomplished social dancers, competitors, performers or teachers.

Dancesport Kingdom loves animals and leopard print is a feature of the studio! Dancesport Kingdom regularly supports three charities, Animals Australia, Edgar's Mission and Humane Research Australia.
Professional Dance Teacher
Leighton has danced for twenty-five years and has won numerous titles in all three Dancesport styles in Australia throughout that time. In late 2005 he moved to the UK, and for six years trained with the worlds best, winning a number of titles and regularily competing in the "big three" British events: the UK Open, International Open and the Blackpool Dance Festival. In 2012 he returned to Australia to compete in the Professional division and Ballroom dance teaching, bringing a wealth of experience from across the globe.
Professional Dance Teacher
Andy has been Ballroom dancing for most of his life, being trained by champions both here and throughout the world. He has competed as an Amateur in Open Class taking part in every major Latin American final in Australia, winning many titles and awards along the way.
He has represented both Australia and England, studying out the famous Semley Dance School in South London.
Andy turned Professional in 2008, and moved to New York to teach Ballroom dance. He has taken part in many professional events throughout Australia, Asia and Europe.
He trains many students at all levels from beginners through to open class level couples some which compete internationally.
Andy loves to see people develop their dancing through dedication, hard work and perseverance.
Professional Dance Teacher
Tamy has been dancing since she was a teenager. She has a degree in Human Movement Science from Seoul Woman’s University.
She has competed and represented South Korea as both an amateur and a professional competitor, featuring in Finals of all major Australian Professional Latin events, as well as throughout Asia.
She commenced dancing in Australia in 2008 and began representing Australia internationally in Professional Latin from 2011 both here and in Asia and Europe.
Tamy has been trained by champions in Australia and throughout the world. She has been coaching for many years, training competitors from beginner level through to open class level in both Korea and Australia. She loves teaching the fundamentals of dancing to all levels and is inspired by the development of people’s talent.
Suzanne has been Ballroom dance teaching and Ballroom dancing for several years. She is a qualified Licentiate teacher with Dancesport Australia, and an experienced Dancesport Competitor. Suzanne has completed all three Mickey Powell awards - now Platinum Award - with Honours. Outside of dancing, Suzanne is a Primary School teacher and currently studying for her Masters Degree
Simone has been dancing ballroom for over 10+ years. She has completed her Sapphire in all 3 system styles and received honours for all of them and her Platinum. She is also a qualified Licentiate coach with Dancesport Australia and has completed Level 2 in all three styles. Outside of dancing Simone is a full time credit officer.
David took up Ballroom dancing several years ago after his sister dared him to give it a go. Since then he's been teaching at Dancesport Kingdom and loving it! David is a qualified Ballroom Dance Teacher with Dancesport Australia and National Dancesport Examinations.
Chris took up dancing over 20 years ago for exercise and as a social outlet, never anticipating that he'd become hooked on Ballroom. He met his dance partner (and wife) Monika on the dance floor, and together they decided they'd like to raise the standard of their dancing. They are working on achieving this both through competition (initially Medallist, and now Registered), and by furthering their knowledge through training as dance teachers.
Alysha started Ballroom dancing in her mid teens and loved it straight away! She blitzed all her medal exams and was the Youth Scholarship winner at Dancesport Kingdom in 2010. That started a successful competitive career competing in Youth and Adult Amateur division. Alysha is a qualified Ballroom Dance Teacher with Dancesport Australia.
Robbert started dancing whilst at University. He has completed his Platinum with Honours in Standard, Latin & New Vogue, and is a qualified Dance Teacher with Dancesport Australia. Robbert dances competitively in Masters 3 with his wife in all three styles.
Angelica has loved ballroom dancing with a passion since she began learning 22 years ago. She achieved Honours in Modern, Latin & New Vogue in Gold Level Medal tests and above. Angelica has also had more than three years full time experience in teaching Modern, Latin, New Vogue and Street Latin and is a Qualified Ballroom Dance Teacher with Dancesport Australia. She is currently competing in the Open category in Dancesport competition. Angelica loves working with people of all ages and abilities in achieving their goals, developing their self confidence and self expression through dance.
Cassie started Ballroom dancing with her fiance at DK IN 2012 with her fiancé Andrew and was instantly hooked. She completed all her Award exams with homers and went on to complete a Ballroom teaching qualification and started Dancesport competition, winning the Stars of the Future Trophy in 2012.
