Who are we?

Dancesport Kingdom was established in 2007.

Owner and Principal Monica Fincham was born to dance!  She commenced dance at the age of four with Calisthenics, was awarded a Ballet and Jazz scholarship at seven,  and was Junior Victorian Rhymthic Gymnastics Champion at 12!  She is also a Grade 8 AMEB pianist.

She commenced Ballroom, New Vogue and Latin American in her mid teens and commenced what was to become a 17 year competitive DanceSport career over the three competitve styles.  During this time she was Amateur and Professional Victorian Champion, Crown Champion, South Pacific Champion, National Champion, Premiere Championships Champion, South Australian Open Champion, Queensland Open Champion and after becoming professional in 2006 made every National Championship final in Australia.  She also travelled overseas to train and compete both in Asia and in the UK in Bournemouth and at Blackpool as an Amateur and Professional dancer.

After retiring from competiiton (except for the occaisonal Pro-Am) in 2013, Monica  now dedicates her time to teaching future champions at DK, and is an accredited Adjudicator with DanceSport Australia.

Dancesport Kingdom loves animals and animal print is a feature of the studio! Dancesport Kingdom regularly supports three charities, Animals Australia, Edgar's Mission and Humane Research Australia.


Professional Dance Teacher

Leighton has danced for twenty-five years and has won numerous titles in all three Dancesport styles in Australia throughout that time.  In late 2005 he moved to the UK, and for six years trained with the worlds best, winning a number of titles and regularily competing in the "big three" British events: the UK Open, International Open and the Blackpool Dance Festival.  In 2012 he returned to Australia to compete in the Professional division, bringing a wealth of experience from across the globe.


Professional Dance Teacher

Andy has been dancing for most of his life, being trained by champions both here and throughout the world. He has competed as an Amateur in Open Class taking part in every major Latin American final in Australia, winning many titles and awards along the way.

He has represented both Australia and England, studying out the famous Semley Dance School in South London.

Andy turned Professional in 2008, and moved to New York to teach. He has taken part in many professional events throughout Australia, Asia and Europe.

He trains many students at all levels from beginners through to open class level couples some which compete internationally.

Andy loves to see people develop their dancing through dedication, hard work and perseverance.


Professional Dance Teacher

Tamy has been dancing since she was a teenager. She has a degree in Human Movement Science from Seoul Woman’s University.

She has competed and represented South Korea as both an amateur and a professional competitor, featuring in Finals of all major Australian Professional Latin events, as well as throughout Asia.

She commenced dancing in Australia in 2008 and began representing Australia internationally in Professional Latin from 2011 both here and in Asia and Europe.

Tamy has been trained by champions in Australia and throughout the world. She has been coaching for many years, training competitors from beginner level through to open class level in both Korea and Australia. She loves teaching the fundamentals of dancing to all levels and is inspired by the development of people’s talent.


Dance Teacher

Suzanne has been teaching and dancing for several years.  She is a qualified Licentiate teacher with the Australian Dancing Society, and an experienced Dancesport Competitor.  Suzanne has completed all three Mickey Powell awards with Honours. Outside of dancing, Suzanne is a Primary School teacher and currently studying for her Masters Degree


Dance Teacher

Simone has been dancing ballroom for over 10+ years. She has completed her Oscars in all 3 system styles and received honours for all of them and is currently working on her Mickey Powell.   She is also a qualified associate coach with Dancesport Australia and has completed Level 1 in all three styles.  Outside of dancing Simone is a full time credit officer.


Dance Teacher

David took up Dancesport several years ago after his sister dared him to give it a go.  Since then he's been teaching at Dancesport Kingdom and loving it!  David is a qualified Dance Teacher with Dancesport Australia and the Australian Dancing Society.


Dance Teacher

Chris took up dancing over 20 years ago for exercise and as a social outlet, never anticipating that he'd become hooked on Ballroom. He met his dance partner (and wife) Monika on the dance floor, and together they decided they'd like to raise the standard of their dancing. They are working on achieving this both through competition (initially Medallist, and now Registered), and by furthering their knowledge through training as dance teachers.

Alysha started dancing in her mid teens and loved it straight away!  She blitzed all her medal exams and was the Youth Scholarship winner at Dancesport Kingdom in 2010.  That started a successful competitive career competing in Youth and Adult Amateur division.  Alysha is a qualified Dance Teacher with Dancesport Australia and the Australian Dancing Society.


Dance Teacher

Nicole has been dancing for several years.  She is a qualified Dance Teacher with Dancesport Australia.  Outside dancing Nicole is also a piano teacher and bookkeeper.


Dance Teacher

Dancing is Monika's greatest Passion!  An Oscar Medallist in all three styles, each achieved with Honours.  Monika is also a qualified Dancesport Teacher with Dancesport Australia and the Australian Dancing Society.  In December 2012, Monika and her husband Chris began dancing in Medallist competitions, winning the 'Stars of the Future' perpetual trophy in April 2013.  Monika now competes with Chris in registered competitions in the Masters 1 division in all three styles.


Dance Teacher

Robbert started dancing whilst at University.  He has completed his Oscar with Honours in Standard & New Vogue, and is a qualified Dance Teacher with Dancesport Australia and the Australian Dancing Society.  Robbert dances competitively in Masters 3 with his wife in all three styles.

Joyanne has danced in some form, from an early age including Classical Ballet, Jazz, Ballroom & performing Arts.  Joyanne discovered Ballroom dancing about 20 years ago after completing her medals to Gold Standard in all 3 styles.  Joyanne began competing about 15 years ago & has competed in most states around Australia winning many championships in all 3 styles, including winning the Australian Dancesport Championships in New Vogue in 2008.  Joyanne loves to perform & has done many floor shows & exhibition dances at various venues.  Outside of Dancing, she is a Diversional Therapist working with clients who have an intellectual disability and teaches them Ballroom dancing.  She is a competent skilled assessment coach who looks forward to sharing her love of performing & dancing.


Dance Teacher

Gary commenced dancing in 2006 and he and his wife Stonnie started competing in Dancesport Competition in 2008.  They made the Australian Championship finals in all three styles in 2008 and in 2009 were National Champions in the Standard style.  Since then Gary and Stonnie have competed in Dancesport Competitions all over Australia, as well as internationall in Singapore, and in 2013 at the Blackpool Festival World Championships in England.  Gary is a qualified Dance Teacher with Dancesport Australia and the Australian Dancing Society.  Gary enjoys showcase dancing where he can use his stage and musical experience to create memorable floorshows.


Dance Teacher

Jessica started ballet in 2006 but then fell in love with ballroom dancing in 2008.  Jessica is a highly successful competitor in competitions and has won over 390 awards as a medalist.  She won the 2014 Youth Scholarship at Dancesport Kingdom.  In her Oscars exam she received Honours in all three styles.  Jessica became a fully qualified dance teacher at the age of 13 at Dancesport Kingdom, making her one of the youngest dance teachers in Australia.


Dance Teacher

Angelica has loved ballroom dancing with a passion since she began learning 22 years ago.  She achieved Honours in Modern, Latin & New Vogue in Gold Level Medal tests and above.  Angelica has also had more than three years full time experience in teaching Modern, Latin, New Vogue and Street Latin and is a Qualified Dance Teacher with Dancesport Australia and the Australian Dancing Society.  She is currently in training for competitive dancing.  Angelica loves working with people of all ages and abilities in achieving their goals, developing their self confidence and self expression through dance.
